Tim's Dragonlance Chronicles Fancast
This blog will serve as the home to my attempt to fancast a trilogy of movies based on the Dragonlance Chronicles book series by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. Growing up this was the first book series that I can remember caring about and reading over and over again. My hope is that the huge success of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies along with television properties such as Game of Thrones, The Shannara Chronicles, Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings and The Witcher will prove the time is right to introduce the world to another classic fantasy franchise.

This is my second attempt at casting a Dragonlance film series. Almost every fancast out there tends to ignore the fact that most of these characters were around 22 to 26 years old (Tika is only 16). With that in mind, I went back to the drawing board and tried to make choices that were more realistic based on the character ages. Please keep that in mind when evaluating the fact that Henry Cavill isn't Sturm or Tom Hiddleston isn't Raistlin.

Okay so things might actually be happening with regards to a Dragonlance movie (hopefully trilogy). Actor Joe Manganiello is pushing hard to get a movie made based on the first book, Dragons of Autumn Twilight. Many think he could play Caramon but that character seems to be a bit young for Joe. How about Lord Verminnard?

No Fizban?
ReplyDeleteToo much star firepower in that cast. Also Goldmoon and Riverwind are supposed to be from the same barbarian tribe. Hard sell for your two suggestion to me. Nice job overall though.
I know there is a lot of stars in my casting but I wanted to have fun with it and shoot for the moon. You must have missed Fizban. I have John Cleese playing him. Not sure on Goldmoon and Riverwind as I feel like they match the descriptions. Thanks for the kind words.
DeleteMost of these are great but .. Caramon ??? They need an actor with huge muscles like the book describes..
ReplyDeleteThanks. I definitly struggled with Caramon and tried to cast somone in the right age range who was capable or pulling off Caramon's personality. Ansel is 6' 3" and does appear to have a good frame for adding muscle. No reason to think he couldn't get ripped through some serious training.
DeleteSo sick of seeing fancasts where the actors are 15 and 20 years too old for these characters so this is my latest effort to really address that aspect of building the cast.
Some excellent choices! Great Takhisis and great Kitiara. I like that it's not totally star power oriented. Tika and Laurana look spot on too!
